Menstruation: a simple story!

Menstruation is a female biological process that marks an important milestone and is necessary for reproduction (although it differs from person to person). Some have it easier and some pretty much irregular (Endometriosis and PCOS are associated with pain and menstrual irregularities).

Pain on the back and waist, as well as leg cramps are common premenstrual symptoms. “menstrual cramp” makes you want to stay in bed all day, sometimes you can’t sleep, neither can you sit, all you want to do is make the pain stop. The discomfort and sometimes the mood swings. Menstruation occurs monthly from the onset (menarche) till it finally stops (menopause) with some exceptions like pregnancy and hormonal imbalance. The acne and breakouts can be very frustrating too especially when you are part of the "glowing skin and skin Poppin geng" period pimple is particularly very stubborn. Then there is menstrual diarrhea that is very uncomfortable too.

Hygiene has to be top-notch, whichever methods you use: from disposable pads, to reusable pads, to tampons, to cloths and tissues(not recommended) and menstrual cups. Read up toxic shock syndrome, women who use tampons are at a higher risk, the blood accumulated may serve as a medium for bacterial culture, (TSS) is a medical emergency.

Sometimes you become so quiet, with no appetite and food nauseates you. At other times, the appetite is insatiable. Sometimes, I bathe up to 3 times a day during periods and sometimes I can barely bathe twice. Cleaning up after every change is necessary, you don’t want to give off an extremely unpleasant smell when you’re on.

As long as there is no medical reason for the delay, menstruation occurs in adolescence. Knowledge and information should be sought from the right sources, preferably, a youth-friendly health center (YFHS) with counseling services.

These symptoms vary from person to person and some have none at all while some have a combination of all.
