Mental Health.

According to WHO a young adult is someone between the age of 10 and 24 while the youth is between 15 and 24. An adolescent is an individual, although not yet an adult, they are in the transition phase between childhood and adulthood. Most young people and adults feel sad or low once, in a while, this is understandable because of stressful experiences but when it drags for a long period of time at a stretch it may become an illness "depression".

Mental health includes our emotional, psychological and social wellbeing. Depression and suicide is becoming increasingly common among young people. Change is one of the triggers of depression in youths. We overthink things, from admission to examination to graduation and employment. Being able to cater to yourself and your loved ones, being accepted, and having a quality relationship. These factors are sometimes, fueled by social media which is a display of illusion that puts unrealistic pressure on youths.

Being idle for a long time, gets to us mentally, as was the case when the covid 19 lockdown was eased gradually and students like myself ( i am a postgraduate student) had nowhere to go. There was nothing new to look forward to, and we had to come up with things to do.

Talking about it, starting something new that I loved (writing on the blog), and going out daily to a friend's workshop are some things which gave me a new spark, although I am not totally off the disappointment of things not going as planned, I am happy to have things to look forward to.

Mental health is often ignored and not given the attention it deserves, if we are to maximize our potential and get to the height of our productivity, we must nurture ourselves mentally and pay attention to every little detail.
